Established in 2006 as Megavind, our primary mission was to forge a collaborative bridge between the Danish state, private companies, and knowledge institutions. This alliance aimed to accelerate innovation across various technological domains, particularly focusing on the growing wind energy sector. Megavind emerged as a strategic catalyst, setting the agenda for research priorities within the wind industry.
Navigating through the years, Megavind became synonymous with driving advancements in research, development, and demonstration for wind energy. The organization played an important role in establishing a coherent strategy, fostering competitiveness, efficiency, and reliability within the wind power landscape.
In the wake of changing societal dynamics and energy needs, our scope expanded beyond wind energy. Recognizing the call for intensified research and development efforts, Megavind transformed into Danish Alliance For Renewables (DAFRE). Under this banner, our alliance has broadened its horizons to include vital parts of renewable energy. This evolution was fuelled by a commitment to fostering cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration. The alliance believes that the most robust R&D outcomes emerge from comprehensive interest representation, thereby widening and strengthening our vision and reach.
