What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small data file that is stored on the user's computer in order to recognise the computer on subsequent visits. A cookie is a passive file that cannot collect information on your computer, spread computer viruses or other harmful programmes.

Some cookies are placed by parties (so-called third parties) other than the one listed in the address bar (URL) of the browser, e.g. when embedding a video from YouTube or maps from Google. This means that cookies are stored by parties other than the website owner.

Some cookies are only stored on the user's IT equipment as long as the user has their browser open (session cookies). Other cookies are stored for a longer period of time (persistent cookies). When the user revisits a website, session cookies will be set again, while persistent cookies are typically only renewed.

Cookies on dafre.dk

We use the traffic analysis tool from Matomo to track visitors' use of the pages. We have chosen not to recognise returning visitors, hence cookies (and IP information) are not technically used, but we still require your consent before the data collection is registred. The anonymous information about individual visits is stored on a server that only we and the system provider have access to, and is only used to create reports on the use of the website. The data is not disclosed to third parties.

You can read more about cookies and the rules in the Cookie Order on the Danish Business Authority's website
